Snapshot Summary July 10-16, 2011

One day runs into another and I don't even know what day of the week it is until I check.

This week Katie took the boys to the community park and took with her our Tree Quest Fundana so that they could look for nature finds there.
Rough Bark

Lichen
on tree bark.
Lichens like clean air. How clean is the air around here?

This, of course, led to climbing trees.

STOP!
Stand next to a tree. Close your eyes. LISTEN for 60 seconds. What did you HEAR?
They also ate a snack there.

Katie also took the boys to play on the new pirate ship they have at the community center.

It makes one dream of what it was like.

Katie also set up a Super Heroes Hunt with clues for the boys, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
We also set up a surprise of color-changing juice.

The drink starts out clear but it changes to a different color as it is poured into each cup.

It is simple to set up but the results are so much fun!
There was other pretending this week, including being a ninja...

and a spy...

and adventures with Buzz.

I also noticed that there are some colorful leaves on the ground...

Isn't it a bit early for autumn?

Thank you, everyone, for all your thoughts and prayers for Steven's recovery. He goes back to Baltimore Shock/Trauma on Monday for an evaluation to see if the swelling in his leg has gone down enough for them to do the surgery to put pins in his leg. Meanwhile he has been feeling well enough to work some. Thankfully he works via computer so he can do it from bed.
