Snapshot Summary October 31-November 6, 2010 {Week 9}

Snapshot Summary October 31-November 6

Sunday: We carved pumpkins, ate pumpkin pancakes with black cinnamon syrup spiders, webs, etc. on them,
and then went trick-or-treating.
ghost (Sam), railroad conductor (Alex), spiderman (Quentin), hula dancer (Katie), stormtrooper (James)

We also revealed our first week of Science Mystery, starting off with footprint analysis and starch testing.
Monday: We played with fractions ( dividing dough) and measurement (with measuring cups, with thermometer, with time) while we made cute bear bread...
and we played with pentaminos puzzles.

Tuesday: Symmetry was still on our minds since our math lesson on it last week. When we looked at Fra Angelica's The Crucifixion this week, the symmetry just popped out at us with the two sets of three standing figures on either side...

and Tuesday nights are square dancing nights for Katie and Sam.

Wednesday: We read about Marco Polo's trip through the Middle East and made pictures of his camels going through the Persian deserts

Thursday: We worked on reading and writing. Quentin is working on word-building. As you can see, he has some inventive spelling. Katie is working with James with his reading. Sam is working on an page with illumination. Quentin made his own arrows out of sticks and leaves.
Friday: We played with the microscope...

and Steven took the kids roller skating with friends.
