Snapshot Summary October 18-23, 2010 {Week 7}

Snapshot Summary October 18-23
Monday- Working with gumdrops and toothpicks we made models of polygons.

Tuesday: We completed a nature study of the Osage Orange tree and began our picture study of Fra Angelica's work. Sam and Katie went to square dancing in the evening.

Wednesday: In our study of the Wars of the Roses, we researched the English Monarchy, which led to research of the French Monarchy. Katie and Quentin went beachcombing. Now that it is fall, there are more shells and things to find.

Thursday: We completed reading and writing assignments today, but the most spectacular thing that happened was a package that arrived in the mail. A friend sent this huge package of Halloween surprises. Besides all kinds of candy goodies, there were costumes, and clothes, and Halloween books, and decorations and craft kits and toys and magazines and comic books and more. Halloween arrived at our house.
Friday- Today we completed some science experiments on the effects of temperature on solubility and discovered that for solids, the solubility increases with the increase in temperature but with gases the solubility decreases with the increase in temperature. For liquids, the temperature doesn't matter.
Saturday- Woodworking project at Lowes, lunch at McDonalds (with play area, of course), hair cuts all around for the boys and WalMart. Whew!
