Snapshot Summary August 9-14, 2010 {week 45}

And this is my week in photos. This week has been a little hectic because we are getting ready for our annual Family Camp/Staycation (which begins on the 20th.) The entire house needs to be thoroughly cleaned and meals prepared in advance as well as the activities for Camp planned for (and materials for them gathered.) Needless to say, it has been hectic. Here is some of the things other than that we have done this week:

Monday: We had a sushi bar for lunch.
Quentin watched Katie make her sushi
and then made some for himself.
James then joined in.
Open-faced sushi for those not good at rolling (me).
Or sushi balls, no Norri (seaweed wrappers) for some (Steven),
with the goodies inside.
Quentin's clothespins arrived in the mail
and so they spent some time making them into Medieval characters
Kings and Queens and Knights and Peasants
and then they took them out to the sand pile to play with them with their sandcastles. We received another postcard from Australia.

Tuesday: Steven took the little boys to the dentist for their check-ups. Katie made a clothespin people for the little boy's sandcastles. Alex worked on his salt lapbook by making colored sand. Katie helped Sam with perspective drawing.
We took the opportunity while the little boys were out to thoroughly clean the family room. All-and-all a productive day.

Wednesday: Outside in the garden and on trampoline.
Learning about Restomel Castle in the sand and hearaldry.

Thursday: It rained this morning so they did not meet friends at the park this week. The little boys labeled parts of the armor. Katie made knights pieces for their ever-growing chess set and so they learned how that piece moved and added that to their set to play. Quentin and James found an unusual looking beetle.

We had Mexican Beans and Rice and Taquitos for dinner.

Friday: After playing in the mud all morning, the afternoon was filled with lots of experimenting with chemical reactions.
Two postcards in the mail today, both from Finland.

Saturday: Steven and the boys went to a local Pirate Fest celebration and of course, had a wonderful time.
