Snapshot Summary: July 19-24,2010 {week 42}

Can you find each of our days in this collage?

Monday: We started our Salt Lapbooks and made the words for the front out of watercolor with salt sprinkled on it, which makes a lovely design. We also completed some math work including some algebra. We made gyros for dinner and the boys swam in the pool while dragonflies gathered on the zipline.

Tuesday: Fun playing and pretending and studying about 1066 and all that. We tried our hand at embroidery on a very small section of the Bayeux tapestry and had an even greater appreciation for it. We added another page to our postcard-geography album. Steven made a Zucchini and Ricotta Galette for dinner. And, of course, more pool time.

Wednesday: We learned about Giotto's early life and completed an art project that reminded us of the story with crayons, black paint and a chopstick. We visited good friends.

Thursday: No park today because friends are on vacation and it is too hot these days! We had a day just playing games on the computer and lots of pretend games. The boys worked on copywork or handwriting and spelling. Steven made quiches for dinner. We went blackberry picking and to Rita's for refreshments since it has been in the 90's-100's everyday. We saw beautiful old cars at a small car show.

Friday: Katie mailed postcards and picked flowers for our table. She saw five Katydids on a branch. We studied chemistry. The boys mostly played with the new toys. Katie and I made Satay and I made a vegetable lasagna.

Saturday: Made UFO's at Lowes. (Hmmm...that comes too close to rhyming, but not close enough.)
