Snapshot Summary July 12-17

Monday 12th: Today we had lessons in order of operations, multiplication with crossed lines, multiplication with beans and cups, and played games like Othello. We also worked on and solved the mystery of Quentin's red ant.
On Tuesday the 13th we completed a picture study of Cimbue. We visited very good friends. They have a new baby, so I was able to hold him. They have 6 kids and four of them match the ages of my kids, so there was lots of fun for everyone. We were so far from home, we stopped off at a restaurant for dinner.
Wednesday 14th: Today was our geography and history day, so James added a page for Pennsylvania in our postcard geography album. We saw moths on the mint. Katie showed the little boys how to make Norman Keeps in the sand. I hung my quilt out on the line for Wash Wednesday. We studied the Battle of Tours, Charlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire and accomplished copywork. Katie tended her garden, in which we will be harvesting cucumbers soon.

Thursday and Friday (15 & 16): Steven took the boys to the park to play with friends. In the afternoon Quentin made preparations for lemonade stand and Katie made cupcakes for Alex's birthday. I can't believe he is 16 already.
The boys made molecules from toothpicks and marshmallows. We had gyros for dinner.

And, of course, every day there has been a lot of this...
