21 Monday I announced that there would be no school this week, only Christmas activities. Immediately Quentin became upset. "We can't even make a history puppet??" he moaned. So, of course, I relented and let him make a puppet of Sargon the Great. James joined him in making one, which will teach me to never have a holiday from school. I got to work making up a recipe of my own, White Chocolate Craisin Almond Cookies, while Katie helped the boys make St. Nick's Sugar Drops, which is a M & M cookie rolled in colored sugar. Katie and I worked on keeping up with cleaning the kitchen, while Steven took the little boys to the P.O. for a very special mission -mailing the letters to Santa. Back at home, they made a Attack of the mutant Snow Goon snowman. Meanwhile Katie and I prepared for the next activities. When they came in, the boys made White Chocolate Pretzel Wreaths with me, while Katie and Alex made more Santa Cookies back by popular demand. Then Katie finished up her Q-activities with Quentin with "Q is for Quilt" cheese sandwiches for a snack. The rest of the day was filled with lots of wild boy activity, Rudolph and some computer research. Not a bad way to spend the shortest day of the year
23 Wednesday Steven had to take me to my doctors appointment, which is a half-day endeavor, so Katie watched the boys. They read and searched I spy Christmas and made peppermint brownies.
25 Friday Christmas There was evidence that Santa had visited us overnight. It was a really beautiful day full of joy and peace.
26 and 27 Saturday and Sunday Lots of playing with new toys!
